Lapland Express expeditions to the arctic hills or Kilpisjärvi
The cold northerly wind lashes relentlessly against the arctic hills. The stars sparkle like icy diamonds as the northern lights tell their wild tales in the night sky. I leaned forwards a bit, focused my vision and asked my friends, “does anyone want some more champagne, sushi or tapas?”
This could be your story to tell after you sit with some company in the Lapland Express, a 12-seater Snowcat, on your way towards Levi’s peak. The Snowcat’s passenger cabin is heated and comfortable, and tasty snacks can be enjoyed.Along with an enjoyable ride, we will provide delicious snacks for your unforgettable journey in the middle of the arctic night.
Interested in fishing for king crab in the Arctic Ocean?
Pykeija is a small fishing village in the municipality of Sør-Varanger, ideal for king crab fishing. The village is located on the coast of the fish-laden Varangerfjord, the easternmost fjord in Norway. Finnish migrants founded the village in the 1800s, nowadays housing a population of about 200.
Even though a long time has passed since the first Finnish migrants set foot in the village in the 1800s, the Finnish language is still prevalent and widely used there. Even to this day, about 50% of the village’s population speaks Finnish.
The village is located about 380 km from Levi, and we will spend the nights in 2-3-person cabins right by the ocean’s coast. The fishing boat seats 7 people, and the crabs will be boiled and eaten aboard the boat. In the evening you may enjoy the sauna, and if you are brave enough, you can even go for a swim in the Arctic Ocean! The trip’s length is 1-2 days.
Wilderness Cabin in Pokka
The wilderness cabin, Aapelimäki, is situated in Pokka, 70km to the north of Levi. It is surrounded by vast expanses of state-owned land. The cabin was constructed in 2009, and it offers diverse options to people who enjoy engaging in outdoor activities.
The cabin is spacious and includes a kitchen offering both wood and gas stoves. The cabin’s lighting is handled by both oil lamps and candles, and the heating is provided by a wood burner. There are 2 lofts with 6 mattresses, as well as a separate bedroom for spending the night. There is also a wood-heated sauna in the same building.
The water comes from a well, but in the winter, when it freezes over, customers must provide their own water. If necessary, 2* 30l water tanks and a sledge can be rented. The cabin is accessible by car during the summer, but not during the winter. The distance from the main road to the cabin during the winter is 1km. Kide Adventure can tailor and host night-time trips to Pokka. The cabin can also be rented.
A Restaurant Tour in Levi.

In between dining we will walk through downtown Levi, where a guide will show you around and give hints on how to get the most out of your trip.
