Kide Adventure_king_crap_fishing

Interested in fishing for king crab in the Arctic Ocean?

Pykeija is a small fishing village in the municipality of Sør-Varanger, ideal for king crab fishing. The village is located on the coast of the fish-laden Varangerfjord, the easternmost fjord in Norway. Finnish migrants founded the village in the 1800s, nowadays housing a population of about 200.

Even though a long time has passed since the first Finnish migrants set foot in the village in the 1800s, the Finnish language is still prevalent and widely used there. Even to this day, about 50% of the village’s population speaks Finnish.

The village is located about 380 km from Levi, and we will spend the nights in 2-3-person cabins right by the ocean’s coast. The fishing boat seats 7 people, and the crabs will be boiled and eaten aboard the boat. In the evening you may enjoy the sauna, and if you are brave enough, you can even go for a swim in the Arctic Ocean! The trip’s length is 1-2 days.
